We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals... In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.

@DESPITE STRAIGHT LINES: You are most perceptive Paul. I found this Great Dane alone, probably abandoned by his master, on this beach. I watched him for hours as he sat there in the blazing afternoon sun, sad and depressed, rooted to this spot by the tracks of the vehicle that had departed as if expecting it to return. He didn't even stir as I shot frame after frame from up close. All he did was gaze in the direction of those tracks, his master's final words echoing in his ears :"STAY!"
@anne fleurent: Thank you Anne, you are most kind and I truly appreciate your warm words. I am so glad you like my work and it gives you so much pleasure:)
