Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.

what the glummy picture!i like crows in the gray sky!
29 Jan 2011 5:18am
Beautiful image and lovely poem! A wonderful contrast between the crow and gray sky! Well done image Pavan!!!
29 Jan 2011 6:15am
@Wild Mustang Photography: Thank you Pam! It's not a crow though but a little black bird...I love all birds:)
The most perfect words and so true, in all aspects of life. The image is so beautifully captured, and perfectly toned. I think I am one of the few people in the world who loves crows and ravens (and Magpie's too), most others seeing death and darkness, where I see a beautifully formed creature with incredible plumage and stance, a survivor at all odds, a warrior of the bird world that should be admired, not vilified. To me your post speaks to MY heart. All creatures are beautiful and worth saving, everyone is beautiful in their own way and perhaps a little more tolerance and understanding from those who view with eyes, or listen with ears, might not come amiss.
29 Jan 2011 6:28am
@SOUL AFLAME: Many thanks my friend, you are so right:)
beautiful capture ,well done :)
29 Jan 2011 6:38am
A beautiful style in the position of this lonely bird! The counting of the image gives an incredible seduction.
Tis the season at home, screaming crows in the sky, I guess they looking for food, sometimes they arise by ten on the bare trees, then I think it is the tree to the crows! I always leave for them in the back yard a few seeds nuts or hazel ...
29 Jan 2011 7:02am
If it's from the heart, I wonder what I should think...a black crow, mono, mysterious background, fence...all make me think that you are not so happy, and you've put a link to a meditation centre. I hope I'm mis-interpreting
29 Jan 2011 7:23am
@CElliottUK: There is nothing wrong with being unhappy, at times, as that serves to help us appreciate happiness all the more. As for the link to Vipassana, I would like to tell you that it is totally mis-guided to think that meditation is only for the unhappy! That sort of thinking would prevent one from any progress on the evolutionary path, which I believe is the ultimate goal of all living beings, especially humans. Regarding the title, when I say 'One From The Heart', I mean that whatever you do, creatively, do it from the depths of your heart regardless of the level of your talent:) A black bird, crow, the ugliest most mediocre of us may have something of beauty to offer to the world and enrich it. But how will we ever know unless we try??? I do hope I have managed to express my image and the philosophy behind my approach to my life and my work more clearly. Finally, I am as happy as an imperfect being can be in this imperfect yet wonderful world:) My sincere thanks for your visit, words and concern, my friend:)
it's really hitchock ,good day
29 Jan 2011 7:24am
Wonderful treatment which creates mysterious mood...
29 Jan 2011 7:34am
Belle image! J'aime la position de l'oiseau, il semble dormir...
29 Jan 2011 7:54am
29 Jan 2011 8:08am
The offset placement of this bird and fence makes this shot perfection.....love all that space.
What a wonderful quote...I'm going to think about that one for a long time.
It inspires me to continue to sing my song --- or, in my case, continue to press the shutter!!!
29 Jan 2011 8:22am
@DULCIE: Thank you so very much Dulcie!! I sincerely believe in those words and that is why I put them there! We all have so much to share and give...the world would be a poorer place without that! The purpose of our lives is to be happy and there is no greater happiness than sharing your inner beauty in the form of your creativity! Cheers:)
Atmosphère troublante ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée.
29 Jan 2011 8:25am
Lovely back light that enhances the silhouette
29 Jan 2011 8:29am
Another poetic, though a little melancholy, expression of solitude! So strong and touching despite the simplicity... the quote is such a perfect one to read along! Let us make full use of and enjoy whatever talent we are gifted, and make our woods a happier place to live our ephemeral life! Thanks for your beautiful lyrical image that is such an inspiration! See you and take care Pavan!
29 Jan 2011 8:37am

another fantastic silhouette, great job Pavan
29 Jan 2011 9:27am
I like this backlight very much, superbly composed, where the bird seems sad in this mysterious atmosphere! But no,it's not sad,it's only thinking about what it can offer to this world, and it has given a beautiful picture, and for you,the meaning to offer your philosophy to me.
29 Jan 2011 9:34am
@Pascale.: Thank you Pascale, for such a wonderful comment:)

29 Jan 2011 1:10pm

Wonderful image, beautiful message and a lovely quote! Excellent presentation Pavan!
I like it. 5***** :)
29 Jan 2011 1:27pm
I agree with Paul about ravens; I encounter them and photograph them with delight.
This is simply superb in all ways, Pavan. The contrast of cold hard fencing with a living magical being of flight, landed however briefly, wrapped in moody black and white... just right!
29 Jan 2011 3:44pm
I understand, now, the reference to Hitchcock ! the birds!! :)
29 Jan 2011 4:09pm
29 Jan 2011 4:19pm
oh fantastic I really like it
29 Jan 2011 4:27pm
Superb image and composition, love the quote..
*upset, head down...however, the bird stayed perched on the dark fence and surrounding, waiting and thinking...when daylight comes, its perseverance and sincerity will be well paid off..somehow!
Have a lovely weekend, Pavan.
29 Jan 2011 4:31pm
@Anne: Thank you so much for the wonderful words Anne! A great weekend to you too:)
I like the theme, the title and the dark mood
29 Jan 2011 5:11pm
It's amazing how one image can inspire so many interpretations.
I love the almost apocalyptic feel to it.
29 Jan 2011 5:31pm
Oh, that is so wonderful. I love your bird shots. I still remember the first images of yours that I saw. All that deep red, the birds silhouetted against the city, a group of pigeons in a tussle, close up. You manage to bring out so much emotion and meaning in their gestures. It's always very affecting.
29 Jan 2011 5:40pm
A stunning image and super quote.
29 Jan 2011 5:58pm
A good quote for me particularly today. I am deciding if I should.. sell it all and just get a standard camera.. and so quoth the raven, nevermore.
29 Jan 2011 6:23pm
super shot, very moody
29 Jan 2011 6:43pm

29 Jan 2011 7:21pm
amazing compo !!! a great message , superb B/W , very nice weekend pavan
29 Jan 2011 7:59pm
A humble-looking bird sad, almost a representation of loneliness and rejection for this solitary raven, stiff and folded in on itself, on its pole. Toasting brings this eve more somber note. I love this sad picture for this aspect and the feelings she blows me. The sharpness of the bird almost in silhouette on the bottom of the background fluffy scenes, gives him a tragic dimension. Have a nice day, Pavan.
29 Jan 2011 8:39pm
A beautiful silhouette of this bird is said represented the misfortune when he is a bird like the others. Splendid composition and wonderful atmosphere. Good day.
29 Jan 2011 8:46pm

29 Jan 2011 10:37pm
oh sweet sweet bird bowing in the darkness - love the comp - mystery - and the tones - excellent
29 Jan 2011 11:23pm
Beautiful feel of thick clouds silhouetting a bird, looking lonesome on the top
of the metal fence, but yet with this photo, we are drawn to the incredible
beauty of this bird even in relief form. Extraordinary capture, most certainly.
29 Jan 2011 11:49pm
Bowing his little bird head in spiritual contemplation before the dawn comes for a new day. A very moving b&w.
30 Jan 2011 12:48am

@Evelyne Dubos: Thank you Evelyne!
At the first glance of thisimage, I would have thought: what a dull and sad picture, if I hadn´t known it was from "Pavan Kaul´s Images". Because then I know, that there is always something more in it than in the first impression.
So lovely and beautiful, the litle humble black bird, the grey tones and the words that give us all hope (even for my amateurish attempts here on Am3 :-).
Your site, Ambrosia, relly lives up to it´s name, the food (drink) of the Gods!
31 Jan 2011 10:23am
@larans: That's very touching and it's so gracious of you Larans! I would like to tell you most sincerely, that we are all connected and we contribute to each other's work and lives in ways that are imperceptible but certainly vital for our survival. Each one of us has something of value to contribute to the universe and we do so even when we are unaware of it. Please continue to do your little thing for in that and only that lies the reason for your existence. Thank you and be well my friend:)
PS: congrats to the spotlight!
