The Forgotten...

Posted by
Pavan Kaul (Mumbai, India) on 14 November 2010 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.
~Mother Teresa

SOUL AFLAME from The bosom of Mother Nature, United Kingdom

There is a gentle poetry to the man who sits alone, head bowed, belly rumbling, heart sad and devoid of love. There is a symmetry to the neatness in the way that he sits, with shoes neatly placed before him. The world walks by and mutters as he begins to fall into a light sleep, having drunk from the bottle that now slips gracefully from his grasp. As it hits the floor, he awakens and for a moment is confused as to his whereabouts. Just for a moment he remembers life just a year earlier, and thinks that he is home again... just for a moment before the realization of his plight floods his hope and rising heartbeat.

Such a powerful and emotional frame, Pavan, as only you could capture with such subtle and compassionate tone. And the quote is so right.

@SOUL AFLAME: Your wonderful words move me to tears and I couldn't expect a more complete and compassionate description of this image my friend. Thank you Paul, you are truly a man of such remarkable talent:)

In the USA, too, we seem to have many who are super rich and those who are poor. The middle seems to be shrinking. As the world's economy sorts itself out, certain people will be left behind . . . forgotten. A poignant image.

Powerful image! When the body, mind and spirit has to stop - long enough to rest - exactly where we are - and exactly as we are. It's not up to us when this happens - it just happens - refueling in whatever way we can.

Another compelling portrait Pavan. Really wonderful writing - those words by Mother Teresa. I also had a sentence to add to "It's better to be looked than overlooked." I am sorry I might have used it earlier since lot of time when I see something these words come to my mind! Thanks for your comments on my pic too! Cheers!
