Maia's Home...

Posted by
Pavan Kaul (Mumbai, India) on 21 October 2009 in Architecture.

This unusual nameplate prompted me to photograph this eerie, creepy compound wall...Although the house itself was not visible, my imagination was filled with dark thoughts as to who 'Maia' could be....

"But first, on earth as Vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent:
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race;
There from thy daughter, sister, wife,
At midnight drain the stream of life;
Yet loathe the banquet which perforce
Must feed thy livid living corpse.
Thy victims are they yet expire
Shall know the demon for their sire,
As cursing thee, thou cursing them,
Thy flowers withered on the stem."
-Lord Byron

I know a Maia but she's a bee ;) The light fall on the wall and the shadows give this photo a mysterious atmosphere, but I don't get dark thoughts when I see that frivolous looking nameplate ;)

'Maia' is probably an old movie star hiding from the world. She´s still beautiful but will not trust you when you tell her so.

30 Oct 2009 2:16pm

@6ft5: Ha ha ha..I love your deduction of 'Maia's' probable identity...reminds me of an all time favorite movie 'Fedora'!!!
